Tips to Remember for Your Wedding Invitations

There are many items on your wedding checklist and Wedding Invitations are a very important item on the list to get right. As there are many things to remember when planning, preparing and posting your Invitations, mini Moko have put a list of tips together for you to help the process go as smoothly as possible and keep you on track and organised.

  1. Prepare a master guest list that includes all the guest lists that have been written by your family. This is very important in determining the number of Wedding Invitations required, rather than simply guessing. Remember that couples or families will only require one invite per couple or family, which will help save on numbers of Invitations.
  2. Place your order for your Wedding Invitations early to avoid disappointment and paying more for quicker shipping methods. It is good to start looking at least six months prior to your Wedding Day.
  3. When placing your order, be prepared with information in a digital format, such as guest names and addresses, dates, times, locations and Invitation wording so that this doesn't hold up the ordering process and you are confident that all the spelling of guest names etc are correct.
  4. Always order a few extra Invitations for last minute unexpected additional guests. It is often extremely expensive to go back and order just a few extra as pricing will be most cost effective on quantities of fifty and more.
  5. It's a good idea to have a return address added to the back of the Invitation envelopes so that undelivered invitations can be returned to you. This will allow you to keep on top of your guest list.
  6. Include a RSVP card with the Wedding Invitations. These will allow you to keep track of the number of guests for your reception in terms of eating and seating requirements.
  7. Keep a list of your guests so that you can check them off as your receive their RVSP cards.
  8. It is good etiquette and convenient to apply a postage stamp to your RSVP cards on behalf of your guests. It is worth noting that if you have postcard RVSP cards the postage will be cheaper as you don't have to allow for an envelope.
  9. Consider inserting a map / parking information card with your Wedding Invitation for your guests who may not be familiar with the location of the wedding. This may also extend further to accommodation details if required too.
  10. Don't forget to insert a Gift Registry or Wishing Well into your Invitations. These help your guests know what you want them to buy. There is nothing worse for a guest than not knowing what a Bride and Groom want for their wedding because they have been too shy to ask!
  11. Whilst you are ordering your Invitations consider ordering some Thank you cards too. You will appreciate this after your wedding day and if you buy them all at the same time you are more likely to get a discount.
  12. Once you get a proof of your Wedding Invitations, thoroughly check through for typos as this will be your last chance.
  13. Always address you envelopes prior to inserting the Wedding Invitation to avoid pen writing imprints on your beautiful stationery.
  14. Take one completed Wedding Invitation envelope including all the contents to your Post Office to get it weighed. You can then purchase the stamps required for the rest of your invitations and stick them on at home.
  15. Have you considered buying personalised stamps for your Wedding Invitation envelopes? The Post Office offer a great service for personalised stamps online.
  16. Make sure that you mail your Invitations out no later than 4-6 weeks prior to your wedding date.
  17. For a piece of mind post you Invitations at the Post Office rather than at the most convenient post box.
  18. If not already ordered now is certainly the time to consider further stationery required, such as Place Cards, Order of Service covers, Menus, Table Numbers, Table Seating Plans.

Good luck and most of all enjoy!
